Project Description

Due to a population explosion in north Houston, Harris County desired to expand Gosling Road from its existing two-lane asphalt roadway with open-ditch drainage into a four-lane concrete road with combination open ditch and storm sewers. SPI was chosen to provide final design, bid and construction phase services for this expansion. The project, some 7,900 feet in length, was designed to the County’s Low-Impact Development (LID) standards, making use of ditches, storm sewers, special plantings and special inlets known as Focal Points. This project also included a new signal at Mossy Oaks Drive, a signal modification at Spring Stuebner, a Union Pacific Railroad crossing, two major pipeline crossings, a crossing under the newly-constructed Grand Parkway main lanes with connections to new on/off ramps, dry utility relocations, and a water line adjustment. The project was bid in 2016 at a cost of $8 million, and is currently under construction.
