Schaumburg & Polk, Inc. has been contracted by the City of Huntsville to provide preliminary and final engineering design, bidding and construction phase services for the construction of over 3.5 miles of 18-inch and 8-inch sanitary sewer trunk lines. The sewers will provide sanitary service to an area currently without sanitary service, and will also allow for the decommission of several existing lift stations.Preliminary engineering included conducting route studies to determine the most feasible alignments based on functionality, cost, property acquisition and environmental constraints.Extensive coordination with the U.S. Forest Service was a large part of the preliminary phase, as over 1,000 linear feet of sewer was proposed to traverse National Forest.Additionally, SPI coordinated with Entergy to allow construction within an existing transmission line easement in order to reduce impacts to private property and National Forest property.
