City of Coppell: GPS Control Network
Project Description
This project included establishing the GPS for the City of Coppell.
In previous years, a control system was established for the City of Coppell, but it was found that many of the ten control monuments had been destroyed over the years.
We were contracted to:
-
Verify the accuracy of the established system
-
Recover the existing control monuments
-
Establish monuments in locations that were lost and/or obliterated
We placed the control system onto the NAO 83 (EPOCH: 2010.0000) and NAVD 88 system (computed using GEOID12B). Static observations were utilized on all control monuments with NGS OPUS reductions and reports for all points.
There was substantial field work and office work required of the survey staff for this project in order to complete the final report, which provides the control data utilized on all City of Coppell projects — including both the City’s projects and developer’s projects in the City.
The project was completed by SPI as a subconsultant for the City of Coppell.
