City of Madisonville: TWDB CWSRF WWTP Improvements
Project Description
In 2020, SPI helped the City of Madisonville prepare a Project Information Form to apply for a $2.84 million Texas Water Development Board Series 1 bond. The project was scoped to expand the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant and provide mitigation measures to reduce impacts from flooding. The bond was awarded in 2021, at which time SPI entered under contract for engineering design services to prepare the Preliminary Study Report including environmental review. Environmental review was cleared in 2023, to begin with final design. Four of the existing drying beds will be removed for the proposed installation of a solids holding tank and a building enclosure for a belt press. The electrical services were also revamped to accommodate the new loads while also mitigating flood risk by raising controls on an elevated and covered platform. Additionally, flood walls were designed around the existing oxidation tank, clarifiers and chlorine contact basin to divert sheet flow from flood waters away from these operations.
