State Highway 249 Construction Inspection, Montgomery County

Project Description

SPI provided full-time inspection on this 3.3-mile segment of high-capacity, high-speed toll road.  Responsibilities included general oversight of construction to ensure adherence to the plans and specifications (TxDOT format), regular verification of quantities of work constructed and recordation in Captrac software, preparation of daily progress reports, monitoring of materials, methods and work quality of the prime contractor and subcontractors, daily coordination with the contractor and Resident Engineer, and contract closeout procedures.

The project included significant earthwork, concrete pavement and subgrade, multiple bridges, toll plazas (including electrical and ITS components), MSE retaining walls, and illumination; SPI’s inspection covered all of these components.  Construction duration of this $55 million project was 21 months.
